FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

November 29 – December 5th 

Daily Masses: M, T, Th, F, S 8am; Wed. 8:15am and 6pm

Sunday:

We begin the Advent Season by blessing the parish Advent Wreath. The first candle is the Prophet’s Candle or the Candle of Hope. Our prayer intention for Sacred Heart this week: That our hope in the Resurrection and our eternal life with God may not waver. Columbiettes’ poinsettia sale

Readings: Isaiah 63:16B-17, 19B; 64:2-7; Psalm 80:2-3, 15-16, 18-19; 1 Corinthians 1:3-9; Mark 13:33-37

Monday:

Tuesday:

9-10:30am, Fr. Kevin’s Bible Study resumes in the Parish Center. Over the 4 weeks of Advent we will reflect on the Christmas story as recorded in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. This week we begin with Luke 1:26-56. Bring your Bible and, please, wear a mask. We will arrange the seating so that we are well spaced and will record the study for those who cannot join us in person.

Wednesday:

Sacred Heart student confessions following the 8:15am Mass Confessions noon to 1pm, outside the church. We have added this additional time for those seeking the sacrament during the Advent Season Confessions 6:30 – 7:45pm outside the church

Thursday:

Following the 8am Mass, Fr. Vijay will lead Morning Prayer from the Divine Office We hope to record and post the study online. Look for it on Wednesday morning.

Friday:

Livestream Morning Devotions, 9am 6-7pm: We begin our First Friday prayer with a special opportunity for our Faith Formation students and their families. Join us for a short explanation of why and how we pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Confession will be available for the children and family members who have already made their First Communion.

First Friday Adoration: 7-9pm, then following the 9pm Mass until 8am Saturday First Friday Mass, 9pm

Saturday:

Following the 8am Mass, Fr. Vijay will lead Morning Prayer from the Divine Office. Confessions follow at 9am. Christmas Stroll 5-8pm. Our “Festival Lane” will once again be decorated and we invite you to stroll down the lane to view the displays and enjoy several stations / activities planned: refresh with some Christmas punch; partake of a cookie (or two!); sing a Christmas song with one of our strolling musicians; hear a story; take a family picture in front of the parish tree and the nativity scene; and especially for the kids, make a small Christmas craft. It will be a fun time and (trust us) well planned so everyone can feel safe. Toy Drive: Drop off your (new only, please) toys or Walmart gift cards ($25 denominations are best) so that we can help families in need.

SECOND WEEK OF ADVENT

December 6 – December 12th 

Daily Masses: M, T, Th, F, S 8am; Wed. 8:15am and 6pm

Sunday:

The second candle is the Bethlehem Candle or the Candle of Faith.

Our prayer intention for Sacred Heart this week: That we hold fast to our faith even in times of trial and hardship. Columbiettes’ poinsettia sale Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast: 8:30-11:30am. Toy Drive: If you attend the Breakfast, consider donating (new only, please) toys or Walmart gift cards ($25 denominations are best) so that we can help families in need.

8:15am Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary 9-10:30am, Parish Center: Fr. Kevin’s Bible Study. We continue our reflections on the Christmas story as recorded in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. This week we will study Luke 2:1-20. Bring your Bible and, please, wear a mask. We will arrange the seating so that we are well spaced and will record the study for those who cannot join us in person. 6pm Mass for Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Wednesday:

Sacred Heart student confessions following the 8:15am Mass Confessions noon to 1pm, and 6:30-7:45pm outside the church

Thursday:

Following the 8am Mass, Fr. Vijay will lead Morning Prayer from the Divine Office

Friday:

Livestream Morning Devotions, 9am Christmas Stroll Drive-Thru: 6-8pm. If you did not feel comfortable attending last week’s Christmas Stroll, we invite you to get in your car and drive down our decorated “Festival Lane.” View the lights, music (we hope!), and if you want, allow some parishioners to hand you a candy cane!
Toy Drive: As you drive thru, we will gratefully accept your donations of (new only, please) toys or Walmart gift cards ($25 denominations are best) so that we can help families in need.

Saturday:

Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass at 8am (and possibly a Spanish Mass at noon). Fr. Vijay will lead Morning Prayer from the Divine Office following the 8am Mass. Confessions follow at 9am.

THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT

December 13 – December 19th 

Daily Masses: M, T, Th, F, S 8am; Wed. 8:15am and 6pm

Sunday:

The third candle is the Shepherd Candle or the Candle of Joy. Our prayer intention for Sacred Heart this week: That all in our parish and community may experience the true joy of Christmas this year. Readings: Isaiah 61:1-2a, 10, 11; Luke 1:46-50, 53-54; 1 Thessalonians 5:16- 24; John 1:6-8, 19-28

FOURTH WEEK OF ADVENT

December 20 – December 24th 

Daily Masses: M, T, 8am; Wed. 8:15am and 6pm; No 8am Mass on Christmas Eve

Sunday:

The fourth candle is the Angel Candle or the Candle of Love. Our prayer intention for Sacred Heart this week: That our parish may, in word and deed, show God’s love to our community. Readings: 2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16; Psalm 89:2-5, 27, 29; Romans 16:25-27; Luke 1:26-38
